Ntethelelo: How I Got To Be

  • I am Ntethelelo 'Faku' Mposwa, a recording Gospel music artist and recipient of Best Music Video Award from SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards. I am also a Four (4) times MEC's Special Awards winner from the  Department of Arts and Culture. I also received a Recognition Award for being one of the positive contributors in the Eastern Cape, by representing the Province Nationally in 2016 - 2017 and 2018. I then had an honour of being the Best Worship Album Award winner for the National Ingoma Awards.

The highlights of my career include but not limited to, collaborating with Putuma Tiso on my second album. As well as collaborating with Khanyisa Sabuka and Zodwa Twecu. I also wrote a song 'Bayakhululwa Abantu' for Veliswa Skeyi in her 2019 album. I have recently signed Phindy Sibiya under my record label and Produced her new RnB single.

In the beginning of my Music career in 2013, I approached Tee Dike to assist me with developing my brand. I didn't know how to go about this. All I wanted was to look professional and do things the right way.

We were both in Johannesburg at the time so we would often meet in Braamfontein. We did not have an office, we only had a vision and decided to work towards it. Therefore we would meet in restaurants or drive around and have our sessions.

On these sessions Tee would share with me about how to go about building my brand and grow it. I was an unknown artist with only an album (Indumiso Vol.1). I knew I needed an image that could match up being a recording artist. I suspect that no one would have even taken a second look at me had I not received the head start Tee gave me in building my brand.

I also got to learn that Tee is not only a branding expert, but a stylist as well. I didn't really pay much attention to how I looked and he changed my perspective regarding that. We went shopping for new outfits which he selected for me, and after that he arranged a professional Studio Photoshoot which lasted the whole day till evening. As if that wasn't enough, Tee also assisted me with my PR. He actually was doing almost everything that would grow me as a Brand.

There is one thing about Tee that I noticed, and that is when he works he does a thorough and excellent job. He drafted and designed my Professional Biography; which to this day I still use.

During our sessions he would advise me on how to post on Social Media seeing that I had started a journey towards being a public figure. And this is something that most people (especially artists) do not understand and how important it is for one's career.

Tee always said, "Do not think because you don't get reactions people don't see what you have posted." He thoroughly understood what could harm my personal brand on social media, as well as what would enhance it.

He would always encourage me to post about my Music, to keep updating about my activities  and to engage with my fans. I never understood the value of communicating with my fans and through our sessions, I learnt that secret.

As an Artist, I have learnt so much from Tee Dike. People will always respect your craft or any business you do if they see how professional you are in what you do. I have never looked back even when he relocated to Port Elizabeth. I kept pushing; using the skills that he had transferred to me and applying them everyday in growing my brand.

Thank you my brother, wandibonisa indlela eyiyo. Indlela yokuhlonipha umsebenzi, nokuhlonipha i Brand esele yenziwe.
